This is the second year that Gibraltar will have a prominent role at the Summit, Minister Isola will be speaking on the ‘Governments on Blockchain: Security – Infrastructure – Taxation’ panel. Fellow panellists include Peteris Zilgalvis, Co-Chair of the European Commission’s Fintech Task Force; Jason Kelley, General Manager, Blockchain Services, IBM; and Marwan Alzarouni, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Blockchain Center. The panel will be hosted by MEP Claudia Gamon and moderated by Theo Moore, Managing Director, Brussels, APCO Worldwide.
Blockchain for Europe is a non-profit organisation under Belgian law and has as its stated aims:
1. To create a coherent voice of the DLT and blockchain industry,
2. Share its expertise,
3. Engage with European decision makers about the true nature and potential of Blockchain and Distributed Ledger technologies,
4. Ensuring that regulation promotes and protects innovation in the ecosystem.
Blockchain for Europe represents international blockchain industry players at the EU-level. They aim to contribute to the debate by supporting European decision makers in their goal to make Blockchain a success. Blockchain for Europe aims to collaborate with national, regional and global players to support the promotion of and education about blockchain technology.
Minister Isola has also arranged a number of industry and media related meetings in Brussels with the assistance of the Gibraltar Office in Brussels. Paul Astengo Senior Executive with Gibraltar Finance who leads on innovation and technology initiatives will accompany him on this visit.
