Dr Lisa Cameron MP debates UK Crypto Consultation
14 Jun 23
Yesterday's Westminster Hall debate shed some light on the potential outcome of the UK’s crypto consultation, offering a glimpse of what may be to come for Britain.
MP Dr Lisa Cameron urged the government to appoint a designated authority to lead the UK's digital asset regime - a "crypto tsar". This would be to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to developing the legislation.
However, it is worth considering whether a "tsar" would be the most appropriate approach.
Alternatively, establishing a working group or body could foster a more inclusive and collaborative approach. In Gibraltar, we formed a working group to facilitate the development and implementation of our pioneering DLT regulation back in 2018.
