Kerry Blight begins his tenure as GFSC CEO
01 Oct 19
The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) has welcomed Mr Kerry Blight as its new CEO who started on 1 October 2019. Mr Blight’s appointment comes after the Commission announced the search for a new CEO back in July.
With over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Mr Blight has notably served as CEO of Credit Suisse Gibraltar for five years, Regional Director of Natwest/RBSI for seven years, Chairman of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council, and more recently on the Board of the GFSC.
A well-respected figure, Mr Blight brings his experience at a fundamental time in the sector with the introduction of the new Financial Services Act 2019, the recent launch of HM Government of Gibraltar’s Think Gibraltar campaign and the 31 October Brexit deadline just a few weeks away. Mr Blight is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the Minister for Commerce in safeguarding Gibraltar as an international finance centre.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Blight said, “I want to be able to provide both industry and the Gibraltar Government with as much support in leading the jurisdiction through Brexit and beyond. This is a very important job I have taken on and I am confident I am working with the right, forward thinking people to deliver Gibraltar with the best service.”
